Carrying Capacity

Physical, real and effective capacity per site, following Cifuentes (1992).

Method

  • PCC = visitors at once (length × width ÷ m² per visitor, or area ÷ m² per visitor) × rotations (opening hours ÷ visit duration)
  • RCC = PCC × Π(1 − Cfᵢ). Default: uniform factor 0.8.
  • ECC = RCC × management capacity (0–1)

A uniform factor of 0.8 is a precautionary default until site-specific factors are assessed (Cifuentes 1992; Manning 2007).
